Ravishing colors, engaging compositions, flowing lines, graceful figures, glossy surfaces: The finished paintings that are created at the Academy make painting look effortless. But it isn't. Seeing artists mid-process in their studios is often an eye-opening experience. Below are some photos that I think capture the preparation and variety of artistic processes.
